Waking Up In Vegas with Over The Moon

Mondays and Vegas are combo that is best described with my one of my favorite Cuban sayings: "arroz con mango." Literal translation: rice with mango - aka no bueno. In other words, the pairing of these things is not regarded as something easy, enjoyable, or natural; it's a disorderly, if not altogether repulsive, twosome.

But today we turn such associations inside out, because on this Monday morning my mind is in Sin City thanks to the fabulous powers that be at Over the Moon. The wedding website to top all wedding websites asked little old me to put together a post on a Las Vegas bachelorette wardrobe. And now all I want to do is hop on a flight to LAS and never, ever shake the glitter off my clothes. Check out the post here and start planning your own trip to the strip with OTM's Las Vegas Travel Guide.

Wishin' & Workin' & Wantin' a Wardrobe

When you give a gal a new job, she'll want some new work clothes (no heels allowed). And some time to catch up with the rest of her life - but that may be too much to ask.

This is my way of apologizing for being a teensy-weensy M-I-A lately (it ain't ever too late to say sorr-ay) and for bringing you the good tidings & joy that I am back to being glued behind a computer screen (aka back in your lives). So feel free to reach out with any upcoming fall shindigs you need some wardrobe inspo of your own for - think of it as my way of not clogging your airwaves with the everyday hustle & bustle of my glamorous life (e.g. on today's agenda - exploring a new, unexplored corridor of the Houston tunnels and possibly making it to cookie happy hour at Michael's Cookie Jar (2 for 1 from 2-3pm = SCAN-DA-LOUS! ). Don't give up hope just yet - Friday is only a day away.

Monday, Monday - Can't Trust That Day

Monday, Monday - so good to me. Monday mornin', it was all I hoped it would be.

I'm feeling extra lucky this morning. I'm in Houston, safe, with power, and extra grateful to live on the 31st floor in an area of downtown where there is no flooding. I am with my husband and my cats and I want for nothing. Except for the rain to stop and for the safety of Houstonians. And maybe for a Diet Coke. And while the items in today's post are things I technically "want", material frivolities can wait. All there is time for today is appreciation.

What's New, Pussycat?

I'll tell you what's new with this pussycat - mucho. I took a little hiatus from posting last week to make a conscious effort to "lean in" (as the kids say) to my trip to London and by doing so I "plugged out" (as whoever uses that expression says). Sidenote - if I fooled you into thinking I have a glam jet-setting lifestyle, allow me to come clean - I am transitioning between jobs and basically forced/kidnapped my mother into taking me. My accomplice in my make-Mom-take-us-on-a-trip scheme was my youngest sister, who took every opportunity to call me out on regularly looking dazed and confused (aka pondering and looking at anything but my phone).

But TBH I do feel a lil' dazed and confused (there, I said it). Leaving a job where you worked with people you love to start one that makes you feel like Lucy in the chocolate factory (what in the blippity blip am I doing?) is a funky feeling. Seeing Charlottesville, a city I associate with love, friendship and the happiest of my days become associated with the opposite of these things by the worst kind of evil is heartbreaking. Preparing to move my youngest sister into her freshman dorm this weekend and feeling like it was just yesterday (10 years ago) she did the same for me leaves me with nothing but an urgent request for Father Time: pump the blippin' breaks.

It's certainly a time of transition for me and the places/people in mi vida, and being the good Capricorn I am, I don't welcome change with open arms. Which is why today's post is about focusing on the only change I am ready for: fall. I am ready for plaids and plush and velvets and velour (if that's your jam), but it is still so. so. hawt. And after reading all this (if you did), I bet you're ready for me to take another hiatus.

Totality on Trend: Solar Eclipse Style

Because when your grandchildren ask you if you remember living through the 2k17 solar eclipse, you want to answer something along the lines of: "not only does your Nanna remember, she looked out of this world!!" - because what is the point of reaching grandma status if you can't freely dish out some cheesy knee-slappers or relish in your lifetime achievement of amassing a wardrobe worthy of provoking an inheritance battle? Don't forget to wear protection, kiddos!
