Witchy Business

Rabbit, rabbit! There’s something that really tickles my OCD-pickle about having a new month start on a Monday. And when that month is October, I’m extra fired up.

Yesterday brought a moment of self-reflection, during which I realized I am becoming (if I wasn’t already) the Clark Griswold of Halloween. As I (very pregnant-ly) climbed on a step stool to drape a fake spiderweb on my windows, I was almost too busy imagining (our very first!) trick-or-treaters to listen to my husband remark, “so we’re going to be those neighbors that really get into the holidays, huh?” Yes, my dear, we are - and you best believe I didn’t just wear black to work today because it’s slimming.

Ready, Set... Fall

It happens just like that… you roll into the office on Monday, open your email, and think “wowza it’s already October next week.” Which also means it’s already time for leather, sparkles, and some foresty greens. If you need a visual, just picture me (loudly) stating, “let the fall dressing BEGIN!” from a corporate office, just in earshot of some confused lawyers (who hopefully chalk it up to my pregnancy hormones causing temporary loss of sanity - but we know that ain’t the case).

Celeb Engagements: Everybody's Doing It

It seems like we’re experiencing a wave of celeb engagements as of late, so it’s only fitting that Over the Moon asked me to put my wedding thinking cap on and imagine what the ze stars’ wedding styles will be. I give you Ariana Grande, Priyanka Chopra, and Hailey Baldwin and their respective maybe-they’ll-wear-something-like-this looks, as styled by moi.

A Blast from the Past: Eleanora Magazine

The assignment: what would three fashion icons of yesteryear wear today? It came from Ellie Morrison, editor of digital magazine Eleanora, digital director of The Society Diaries, and the voice behind editorial site Oh, Eleanora. My task was made all the more greater knowing it would be featured in the inaugural September issue of Eleanora, a digital magazine conceived to inspire the female experience by connecting the past with the present.

Needless to say, I was inspired - not only by the subjects of my collages (famed Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Carmel Snow, her right-hand Fashion Editor who went on to become Editor in Chief of Vogue, Diana Vreeland, and Richard Avedon, Snow’s photographer), but by the host of talented creatives (film photographer Rahm Carrington and my artist crush Kelly O’Connor, to name a few) I was able to join in helping introduce such a special project. Check out the magic here.

Plaid-a-Palooza

What is September if not waiting for the weather to cool up a smidge so you can start wearing your fall staples? It's especially dificil deep in the heart of Texas, where fall staples - at least for the next couple of months - translates to the same thing you'd wear during the summer, just in fall-friendly prints and colors. So me thinks its time to officially usher in plaid - a print synonymous with all things fall/winter - even if you're just rocking it in mini-version. Pair it with some hunter green suede or leopard print and bada bing, bada boom you've (almost) forgotten its a high of 90° this week.
